About Us
Shared Memories was established in September 2002 by Greg McClure and Karen McDonald. In 2001, Greg’s 91 year old father (now 97 in 2008) asked the family for help to write his story. This led us to the realisation that there were many other people, who also needed similar assistance. Thus, Shared Memories was born. Our initial idea was to help people write their story through an interview, transcription and publishing process. Along the way we realised that this was perceived as a costly exercise to some. We recognised there was a void in the market for people with varying budgets and those who wished for an easier alternative. An extensive research project was undertaken to ascertain what methods were available in Australia and globally. This research resulted in Shared Memories acquiring the distribution rights for various software packages and the development of various do-it-yourself kits and eBooks.
Since the end of 2005, we have expanded our range of products significantly. Shared Memories now specialises in wedding anniversary gifts, unique birthday gifts, Christening, New Baby gifts, fine bone china gifts including our famous photo plates, the stunning crystal photo memories, photo frames, hand made timber photo albums, professional dry mount albums, quality English pewter for all occasions, an extensive range of pet memory products and beautiful personalised clocks.
We are constantly on the lookout for new products for our loyal customers who just keep coming back! This year (2008), we will be attending various Expo's and trade fairs across the country. Greg & Karen also have recently launched another online shop - CustomFX. CustomFX offers licensed music band merchandise and groovy stuff.
Karen and Greg live and work on their cattle property on the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. The property is at 1,000 metres and is also a Wild Life Sanctuary.

Karen is a Director of GK Projects Pty Ltd. Karen has over 25 years experience in office management working in both the corporate and public sectors. She has extensive expertise in editing and proof-reading all types of documents. With a diploma in Management and Leadership and her experience within the business sector, she brings a variety of skills to Shared Memories. Karen previously worked for the Independent Living Centre – a display and information centre for the disabled and older persons in Sydney, Australia. Prior to this, she worked for the Australian Physiotherapy Association and an executive human resources employment firm as administrator. With a special interest in communicating with people across all walks of life, she enjoys working with people to help them prepare and share their unique stories. |

Greg is a Director of an IT Consulting Company and has extensive experience in all aspects of computing, business and finance and is also qualified in Adult Education. Greg is a Director of GK Projects Pty Ltd, which Shared Memories is a division of. Greg is Technical Director and is responsible for strategy, business planning, finance, IT and web development and is a qualified web SEO (Search Engine Optimiser). He has excellent communication skills and takes a personal interest in each client’s needs. He has a strong passion for history and assisting people to share this for future generations. The 'black sheep' of any gathering. George, has many undesirable qualities that make him stand out in society. George does have, however, one unusual quality (for him). He has a burning passion for Life Story Writing and history. Like his twin brother Greg, he has had a dubious career in IT, mainly in the security field. We let George 'do his thing' at Shared Memories which somehow works. He tends to fill in the gaps that we miss and his new ideas are interesting to say the least. George's interests include reading Socrates and cattle rustling. |
